Russia and China’s Stance
Donald Trump has cautioned Russia and China that providing arms to Iran would have severe consequences. The US president stated on his Truth Social account that he was convinced the two countries had committed to avoiding such transactions.
Xi Jinping had personally guaranteed Trump, during a recent summit in Beijing, that neither the Chinese government nor Chinese companies would supply arms to the Islamic Republic.
Assurances from World Leaders
Trump indicated he trusted Xi‘s word, while also highlighting that he had granted significant favors to the Chinese leader. Similar assurances were reportedly given by Vladimir Putin.
Trump noted that Putin understood the US approach of selling arms to NATO members at a high price, rather than providing them to Ukraine.
As a result, Trump believes that none of these global powers are actively involved in arming Iran, suggesting that this would go against their own strategic interests.
